Statement from the Minara Chamber of Commerce on President Cyril Ramaphosa declared National State of Disaster caused by the Global Outbreak Virus #Covid19
Minara Chamber of Commerce commends our Honorable President Mr Cyril Ramaphosa for his response to take urgent precautions to minimise the spread of this virus that has attacked nations globally. We pray that this epidemic will be curbed through unity and each citizen plays a responsible role in taking the necessary precautions. It is important that as institutes we continue to educate all children, adults and in particular businesses on safety measures to be implemented in all workplace and business environments.
Businesses and institutes are urged to pay heed to the Government call of a ban on gatherings both social and professional for the safety of all. We encourage businesses that meetings ect. which are not urgent can be postponed, or innovate to fully instill the use of technology within the office space by sourcing online platforms for activity and communication to flow.
In addition businesses within retail and wholesale are requested not to exploit this opportunity to hike prices to exorbitant prices of essential products to consumers as this greatly impacts on communities accessing basic hygiene products.
As a Chamber we will be postponing activity of events and will live stream presentations through the various platforms accessible to us.
We welcome Google’s free service of their premium business tool until July 2020 to assist businesses in their communication operations during this time of crisis.
We pray the Almighty will provide much relief from this epidemic and through the contribution of each individual playing its role we will be able to recover the economic damage that has been caused including loss of jobs and business.
